Cliffie Lachney- Cliffie was a dear, old friend of the Hagler family, often playing country music with Shawn’s grandfather, Lester, under the group name “The Ranch Boys”. Benilda Caixeta- Benny was a long-time friend. She & Carla became friends while they were in college. While Benny received daily physical assistance, she esentially lived alone, in an apartment, in New Orleans East. Carla & I called Benny to find out if she needed help evacuating, in case hurricane Katrina came our way. She said that she had plans, and that she would be alright. Benny did not make it.
