See how New Orleans & surrounding areas flooded, August 29, 2005:
April 7, 2009
Hurricane Katrina affected many thousands of people, in several Southern States. New Orleans has been the focus of this disaster, though. Our home was in St. Bernard, Louisiana, in the parish of St. Bernard. Our home was flooded due, mainly, to the Mississippi River Gulf Outlet, a manmade shipping channel. The MRGO, or “Mister Go”, was cut in the late 1960s, and was the subject of much controvery in regards to flooding & environmental issues. Now, 40 years after it was dug, the MRGO will finally be closed, sometime in the next year, or so.
